The entities are organized hierarchically with differences in what concerns to importance and geographic comprehension. At a glance only inside Brazil and "from top to bottom", we will see the following scene: the CBKC, Confederação Brasileira de Cinofilia, is the most representative organization inside Brazil. All the States’ organizations (Federações) are affiliated to it, such as São Paulo State FECESP (Federação Cinófila do Estado de São Paulo); Rio Grande do Sul State FECIRS (Federação Cinófila do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul), and the same about the others. To each State’s Federação, those State’s Kennel Clubs are affiliated. For better understanding, it may be worth taking an analogical view of the government’s level structure. In that case, it is just as if the CBKC was the Presidency of the Republic, each State’s Federação was the State’s government and each Kennel Club occupied the position of a mayoralty.

The abbreviation CBKC, which defines the organization on the top of the pyramid, is a heritage from times when its name was Confederação Brasil Kennel Club, that is, such abbreviation used to make reference to the denomination of its affiliates The name was changed to Confederação Brasileira de Cinofilia, and became a reference to the kind of activities it performs, but the original abbreviation remained. CBKC is a member of FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale)

The Dog’s Rankings

Ranking ACB - Associação Cinológica do Brasil, organization acknowledged nationwide, which existed from 1992 to 1999. Its Ranking comprehended all the country, awarding the best dogs of every breed from anywhere inside it. Obtaining, for instance, the first place in that ranking, meant being in fact the best dog of that breed for that particular year– a bulky distinction in itself.
Ranking The Best of the Year KCSP – Organized by the Kennel Clube São Paulo, it is simply the results of the dog shows promoted by that club during the year. Their dog shows are among the most competitive within the São Paulo State, as they attract the highest number of contestants.
Ranking FECESP – Organized by the Federação Cinológica Paulista, this organization includes all the Kennel Clubes within São Paulo State – all of them are compulsorily affiliated to it. Its dog shows are among the most competitive within the country, as dogs of many states take part in them. Winning that ranking is accomplishing the maximum award of the State’s dog-breeding scene.
Ranking KCABC – Organized by Kennel Clube do A.B.C. – the industrial triangle formed by the three cities of Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo and São Caetano do Sul (in São Paulo State), - awards the participants and winners of the dog shows promoted by that Club. The KCABC is one of the oldest and most traditional of the Brazilian dog-breeding scene. Its shows are very competitive and acknowledged nationwide. The Canil Interagro has been a member of that Club since 1995. It means that it is at the KCABC that our broods are registered and the Championships are approved. That organization also provides all the technical support deamanded by Interagro.
In the years 1987, 88 and 89 there used to be a Nationwide Ranking, such as the ACB’s. These awards were far more competitive and harder to win. As it was necessary to win over dogs coming from all over the country. These days, there no longer exists such a nationwide ranking but only the regional ones.

The Rankings among Breeders

It isn’t simply a dog against dog dispute. When awarding each animal, the competitions end up giving the opportunity for breeders to score also, through a scoring system for their own, defining who the best ones are and, therefore, establishing winners for each ranking.
Breeders’ Ranking – awards the best breeders for each breed along the year. What is considered here is the quantity of awards officially given to each animal of each breeder- regardless of who the owners may be. For instance: if you acquired a Labrador that has been bred by Interagro and he or she accomplished a Championship award, Interagro gets the score which is equivalent to that Labrador’s award. These are computed for the dispute of the Breeders’ Ranking.

Interagro Labradors currently participates in three rankings:

  • KCABC, awards the best breeders of each breed among those who are affiliated to it;

  • FECESP, awards the best breeders within the State of São Paulo;

  • CBKC, awards the breeders among all clubs existing accross the country. It is the ultimate acknowledgement for a breeder to be ranked among the "Top 10" of the country. Generally the awards go to the biggest and most veteran breeders, as the dogs bred by them account for a higher percentage of those competing on the rings. For some younger breeder, who has got just a few broods per year, it is much harder to reach the top positions of that ranking – not that they don’t deserve it, but simply because the dogs bred by them are not in quantity enough so as to be in many show rings.
